New surf park planned in Jacksonville’s eTown development

Plans have been submitted for eTown on the city’s Southside.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville surfers looking for a place to go when the waves are flat will have a new option in a couple of years.

That’s because a new surf park development is planned for Jacksonville, miles away from the beach.

According to News4JAX’s news partner the Jacksonville Daily Record, Aventuur, an Australian-based surf park developer, has picked Jacksonville as the location for its next development.

The city is now reviewing civil engineering plans for the Jacksonville Surf Park at eTown.

Prosser Prime AE is the civil engineer for the project on 55.27 acres at 11374 Etown Parkway, off State Road 9B.

The park will be powered by Wavegarden Cove wave-generating technology and is expected to open in late 2027.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring the Wavegarden to the Jacksonville community,” Aventuur CEO Nicholas Edelman said in a news release. “We met our local partners in March 2022 and admire the passion they have for both surf and the city of Jacksonville. We have built an incredible amount of trust between our partners and the PARC Group, and we are extremely proud of the site we have secured for the development.”

According to Aventuur‘s website, the company was founded in 2019 and is a leading developer and operator of integrated surf park developments.

“We deliver authentic surfing destinations, sympathetic to their location, incorporating thoughtfully designed buildings, landscapes and experiences,” the company says.

The company is also set to open the Perth Surf Park, which is detailed on its website.

“A 56-module Wavegarden Cove (the equal largest in the Southern Hemisphere) will provide perfect waves, tailored coaching and surf progression programs for all abilities in a safe, controlled environment,” Aventuur writes. “A high-performance surf academy, recovery and fitness studios, surf rental, skate park and pump track will complement the surfing lagoon, along with a member’s lounge, beach club, quality restaurants and bars, rooftop glamping accommodation, Rip Curl flagship store and community amenities including naturescaped gardens, lawns and a kids playground.”
